Torea Takutai/Variable Oystercatcher

Torea Takutai, or Variable Oystercatchers, are striking shorebirds with red-orange beaks and legs. Adults are entirely black or black-and-white. They feed on shellfish and worms and nest on open beaches, so keep dogs on leads near nesting sites.
