Auckland Council has provided funding to support us in the following activities:

  • The employment of a part time Coordinators

  • Community events that raise the profile of the awa and improves its wellbeing.  For example, riparian plantings, litter clean ups etc.

  • Surveys of the use of the awa by humans and also establish ecological life form benchmarks to measure our progress

  • Develop our understanding of the infrastructure systems that impact our awa

  • Work with various agencies (WaterCare, Healthy Waters/SafeSwim) to understand empirical data to inform our priorities and activities

  • Ongoing advocacy with local and national politicians and agencies

  • Ongoing networking with other community agencies

  • Develop our on-line presence via social media and this website ​

Foundation North has provided funding to support us in the following activities:

  • Water quality testing project to enable the continued progression of advocacy work with Watercare and Auckland Council Healthy Waters to address sewage overflows and other pollution sources in the awa.

  • Support resources, including Project Management and Social Media Management

  • Operating costs

Second Nature has supported our Trust since its inception with donations of:

  • Consultancy and advice

  • Use of tip truck, office machines and printed materials

  • Plants for planting on planting projects 

  • Use of hand tools and wheel barrows

The Trust Community Foundation provided funding to support us in the following activities:

  • Resources, including the RiverCare Group Coordinator and our Communications role

  • Signage for the Tawa Esplanade Reserve Restoration

  • Printed promotional materials

The Trusts have provided funding for the part-time salaries of our Group Coordinator and Group Coordinator Support roles as well as day to day operational expenses. Amongst other things this funding enables:

  • Project management of events and initiatives.

  • Effective and robust relationships with stakeholders such as Iwi, Auckland Council, WaterCare, and Local and Central Government.

  • Maintaining our information databases - pollution events, water quality data, etc.

  • Communications and Social Media 

  • Funding for a Gazebo & thermos for events

  • Fish on Drains signage
