Harbourview - Orangihina Reserve Project

Projects

Tucked along the eastern edge of the Te Atatū Peninsula Harbourview–Orangihina Park is a 85 hectare stretch of  intertidal and lowland coastal terrainland. The park is known for its ecological, historical, cultural, and recreational value and offers panoramic views of Waitematā Harbour, Rangitoto Island, and the Auckland isthmus. The park remains largely undeveloped, contrasting with surrounding residential growth and is a haven for those seeking space in nature. It is recognised as a Significant Ecological Area (SEA), Biodiversity Focus Area (BFA), and Northwest Wildlink Hub.

Orangihina provides important habitats for many species of native wildlife, especially shore birds. It's one of few locations with combined salt/freshwater wetland systems.  With care, restoration, and community support, we can help protect this taonga (treasure) for future generations.
